For many years, Gmail users had to keep the same email address they made long ago. Many people did not like their old email names. If they wanted to change it, they had to make a new account or do hard steps.

Now, this problem is finally fixed.

Google has confirmed that Gmail users can change their email address without losing their account or data.

This feature was first seen in a Google help page in India. Google says it is being shared slowly with everyone, so some users may get it later.

With this new feature, users can choose a new @gmail.com name. All old emails, contacts, photos, files, apps, and purchases stay the same.

The old email address will still work. Emails sent to the old address will go to the same inbox. Users can sign in using either the old or new email address.

Google has set some rules to keep things safe. You may need to wait before changing your email again, and there is a limit on how many times you can change it. Some old calendar events or shared files may still show the old email for a short time.

Before this, Gmail only allowed small tricks like dots or extra words in emails, but users could not truly change their email name.

Other email services like Outlook and Yahoo already had this feature. Now Google is finally adding it too.

Google did not make a big announcement. But for many people, this is a very helpful update. At last, users can fix old email names they no longer like.
